A dashboard earns its place when it helps a team choose an action. Start with the decisions, then show the smallest set of signals that supports them.

Practical ruleMake the decision, evidence and owner explicit before adding another channel, tool or automation.

Name the decisions

Examples include budget movement, landing-page priority, lead-quality investigation and whether an experiment should continue.

Use three layers

Show delivery signals, conversion signals and commercial signals separately. This prevents a cheap click from looking like a business result.

Add comparison and notes

Time range, market, campaign role and a short interpretation are often more useful than another chart.

Make the next action visible

Every red or amber signal should have an owner, a due date and a clear follow-up question.
